부사절과 부사절 접속사
- Adverb Clause(adv.cl.): A group of words that function as an adverb in a sentence.
- 부사절 = 부사절 접속사 + 절
- 부사절은 문장에서 부사의 기능을 한다.
부사절 접속사의 형태
1) 부사절 접속사 + 완전절, 문장.
2) 부사절 접속사 + V-ing + 목적어, 문장.
- 중복된 주어는 생략한다.
3) 부사절 접속사 + V-ed, 문장.
- 중복된 주어 + be 동사는 생략하여 수동형으로 만들 수 있다.
부사절 접속사의 생략
1) 주어의 생략: "부사절 주어 = 주절의 주어"인 경우(중복되거나 의미가 같은 경우)
- 부사절 주어를 생략
- V \(\to\) V-ing 형태로 변환
ex) (When consumers shop online), they should check the refund policy.
\(\to\) (When shopping online), consumers should check the refund policy.
2) 주어 & be동사 생략: "부사절 수동태 구문의 주어 = 주절의 주어"인 경우
- 부사절 주어, be 동사를 생략
- p.p.만 남김
ex) Children are not allowed in the museum (unless they are accompanied by their parents.)
\(\to\) Children are not allowed in the museum (unless accompanied by their parents.)
부사절 접속사의 종류
- 부사절 접속사는 의미로써 시간, 조건, 이유, 양보/대조, 기타로 구분할 수 있다.
※ 다의적 부사절 접속사
- "as": ~할 때, ~때문에
- "while": ~동안, 반면에
- "since": ~이래로, ~때문에
1) 부사절 접속사: 시간

※ 시간, 조건 부사절에서는 현재시제로 미래시제를 표현한다. (will을 사용하지 않는다.)
ex) We will have a vacation (when the project is over.) (시간 부사절)
ex) The project will be completed soon (if everything goes well.) (조건 부사절)
3) 부사절 접속사: 이유

* 접속 부사 vs 부사절 접속사
1) 접속 부사
- 문장의 의미를 이어주나, 접속사에는 해당되지 않는다.
- 따라서, 등위 접속사를 필요로 한다.
ex) besides, then, moreover, however, hence, otherwise, else
2) 부사절 접속사
- 부사절(종속절)과 주절을 연결한다.
